From my current WIP, The Gambit Queen, Book Three of the Magdalen Cycle, an historical fantasy…
“Peace is gift enough, my lord Levon,” Henri said. His eyes lifted to the bright blue skies and the hawks overhead. One of the hawks plummeted through the air like a falling arrow toward its prey. “I would rather look forward to good relations between our peoples in the near future.”
“Still, I would have you blessed with a gift for your efforts,” Prince Levon said. “I thought perhaps ten thousand gold pieces would be appropriate.”
Henry’s gaze swung down toward the prince. “Ten thousand?” He shook his head. “I cannot accept such an extravagant gift, my lord. It might be perceived as payment to work the truce to your favor.”

From the Book of Luke
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find {it}? And when she hath found {it}, she calleth {her} friends and {her} neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. (KJV, Luke 15:8-10)
