Such A Pain

By Earl Chinnici

(Sometimes I write parodies.)

I walked into the kitchen
like I was walking off last night’s drunk.
The cat strategically tripped me with her paw.
The dishwater really stunk.

I had one eye out of focus, and
the other on the cat.
And, all the while I dreamed of two cups of coffee…
TWO CUPS OF COFFEE, AND…

Such a pain.
Now I’ll have to brew another pot.
Such a pain!
I bet you think I’m making this all up!
All up!
I’m not!

Oh, I’d started pouring very slow…
as I said, half asleep
Well, I said like walking off last night’s drunk.
But I was really just half asleep.

But any ol’ way, there the thing was.
And staring back at me.
I screamed aloud at the fly in my coffee.
FLY IN MY COFFEE, AND…

Such a pain.
Now I’ll have to brew another pot.
Such a pain!
I bet you think I’m making this all up!
All up!
I’m not!
I’m not!

(decent instrumental)

I screamed aloud at the fly in my coffee…
FLY IN MY COFFEE, AND…

(repeat chorus)

(repeat some other stuff)

(another great instrumental)

(repeat chorus again)

(fade)
